We are organized as a Special Administrative Unit of the Ministry of Mines and Energy, in accordance with the provisions of Article 69 of Law 142 of 1994 and 21 of Law 143 of 1994. The CREG is made by the minister of mines and energy, who He presides; Minister of finance and public credit; the director of the National Planning Department; eight (8) experts commissioners appointed by the President of the Republic for periods of four (4) years.
ORGANIZATION OF THE COMMISSION REGULATION OF ENERGY AND GAS
COMISIÓN DE REGULACIÓN DE ENERGÍA Y GAS
The Comisión de Regulación de Energía y Gas CREG regulates monopolies in the provision of public services of electricity and fuel gas, when competition is not in fact possible; and in other cases, to promote competition among those who provide public services, for operations of monopoly or competitors are economically efficient, not involve any abuse of dominant position, and produce quality services.
Also issues of economic regulation for chain activities liquid hydrocarbon fuels in the terms and conditions outlined in the Law.
It's integrated by:
1. The Minister of Mines and Energy, who will preside
2. The Minister of Finance and Public Credit
3. The Director of the National Planning Department
4. Eight (8) Expert-time Commissioners, for periods of four (4) years, not subject to the provisions governing the administrative career.
The Superintendent of Public Services, who will attend with voice but no vote, for themes that correspond to public services.
The Superintendent of Industry and Commerce may be invited for items that correspond to liquid fuels.
COMMITTEE OF EXPERTS
Comprised of eight (8) experts commissioners appointed by the President of the Republic for periods of four (4) years. Its main function is to develop the regulatory framework for the provision of public services of electricity, fuel gas and liquid fuels utilities.
Responsible for the formulation, adoption, implementation, and evaluation of policies, plans, programs and projects CREG in order to ensure compliance with the institutional mission and objectives, within the framework of the constitutional and legislative principles.
ADMINISTRATIVE AND FINANCIAL SUBDIRECTORATE
Responsible for the implementation of administrative, financial, human resource management, information technology CREG in order to ensure their functioning effectively and efficiently
